Availability in India decides it for most buyers
Lumea 8000 (BRI946/00) is sold by Croma at ₹38,999, with demos in four cities. Braun’s India listing via Procter & Gamble and Tira’s Pro 5 page were out of stock in October 2026. That leaves imported Pro 5 units at ₹59,000–₹74,000 with 2–3 week delivery. If you want an Indian warranty and a store to walk into, Lumea is easier today.
Specs head to head
- Flashes: Lumea 450,000; Braun Pro 5 400,000. Both are years of full-body use.
- Intensity: Lumea 5 settings; Braun 10 levels with 3 modes. Braun gives finer control.
- Sensor: both read skin tone — Philips SenseIQ/SmartSkin, Braun SensoAdapt.
- Attachments: Lumea 8000 has body, face and precision; Braun PL5347 has standard, wide, face and bikini.
- Power: both corded.
Skin tone
Braun UK says the Pro 5 suits skin up to type V (dark brown) but not type VI. Philips is less consistent. Croma’s Lumea listing says fair to dark brown, while Philips’ US and UK FAQs say Lumea is not for dark brown to dark skin. For medium-to-dark Indian skin, Braun’s guidance and low settings are the safer bet. Very dark skin should choose a clinic laser. Check yours with the IPL skin tone checker.
Schedule and claimed results
Braun: weekly sessions at first, with visible results claimed in about 4 weeks. Philips: every 2 weeks at first, then monthly, with up to 92% less leg hair after 3 treatments claimed on its Amazon.in listing. Both claims come from the brands’ own studies.
The third option
If both cost more than you want to spend, Signaxo IPL costs under ₹10,000 with Cash on Delivery and 10-day returns. The trade-offs: a 1-year warranty and no published flash or energy specs yet. See Signaxo vs Philips Lumea and Signaxo vs Braun.
