Hair
At home, you can remove hair in two ways. A trimmer cuts it at the surface for quick, gentle touch-ups. IPL gives long-lasting hair reduction over 12 weeks of sessions. Many people use both, trimming before every IPL session. Check if IPL suits your skin before you choose.

How is IPL different from trimming?
A trimmer gives an instant result, but regrowth shows within days. IPL (intense pulsed light, often called "laser at home") works over repeated sessions. Many people notice slower, finer regrowth by session 4–6. It reduces hair rather than removing it for good, and results vary.
Which IPL device should you pick?
All three follow the same plan: every 2 weeks for 12 weeks, then about once a month. Shine IPL (₹7,549) is the lowest-priced start. Flow IPL (₹8,394) lists customisable intensity settings, and Wave IPL (₹8,994) lists multiple intensity levels. For a side-by-side look, see our IPL hair removal machine collection.
Who should not use IPL?
- Best for skin Types I–IV (very fair to wheatish or medium brown) with dark hair.
- Type V (deep brown): patch-test first and stay on the lowest level.
- Not for Type VI (very deep brown to black) skin, or blonde, red, grey or white hair.
- Don't flash over tattoos, moles or tanned skin, or near the eyes.
- Pregnant or on photosensitising medicine? Ask your doctor first.
If IPL isn't right for you, a trimmer is still a gentle everyday option.
How do you trim before an IPL session?
- Start with clean, dry skin and choose the right head for the area.
- Hold the trimmer flat and go in the direction of hair growth on sensitive areas.
- Gently stretch the skin on the underarms and bikini line.
- Never wax or pluck between sessions, because IPL needs the root.
Is at-home hair removal cheaper than the salon?
Waxing and threading are repeat costs, clinic laser is priced per session, and at-home IPL is a gradual, lower-cost option for suitable skin. Work out your own numbers with the hair removal cost calculator, or read at-home IPL vs salon laser vs waxing.
